14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.
[a] A talent was worth more than a thousand dollars.
Interesting that the word for money used in this passage is talent. A few have said that I have a talent for painting dogs. So, standing on God's word to NOT bury my one talent - I have challenged myself to paint 1001 dogs which is roughly what one talent was worth in US dollars. For a jumping off point I have compiled more than 40 dogs I had painted previously.
A gimmick? Absolutely. What I hope to accomplish by this...
- Learn to stand on God's word, to hear even the FUN things He wants me to do and act on them.
- To awake others to the possibility that God has been telling them some FUN things to do too.
- To not bury my one talent.
- And, yes, to sell some of these paintings and quilts.
What cute dogs you have :)
